UK campaigning organisation for women’s equality and rights, The Fawcett Society, has published a new report which shows that the gap in pay between women and men is beginning to grow instead of shrink. ‘The changing labour market: delivering for women, delivering for growth’ considers the position of women in the UK’s workforce post recession – and what could happen next. It finds that women’s unemployment has risen to a 26-year high whilst men’s is decreasing and that Government plans for growth are leaving women behind with 60% of ‘new’ private sector jobs going to men.
