PRUPIM has launched its Sustainability Report for 2008. The document, available at www.prupim.com/about/sustainability introduces PRUPIM’s new Sustainability Strategy, which incorporates long-term commitments for each of its business areas.
The Report highlights progress made towards achieving targets set in 2006, outlines some key performance data from across the business, and features examples of sustainability in action at PRUPIM. Key achievements include:
introducing monthly rent payments for retailers, to support occupiers during challenging market conditions. To date, nearly half of those eligible have taken advantage of this arrangement. A reduction in carbon dioxide emissions (in absolute terms) across the entire portfolio by 15.4% in 2008. Almost three quarters of the energy consumed was derived from Good Quality Combined Heat and Power sources, resulting in the aversion of 56,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide. A reduction in water consumption (in absolute terms) across the entire portfolio by 13.4% in 2008 compared to 2007, and water audits at the 20 highest water consuming properties which were expanded to full Strategic Resource Reviews of energy, waste and water.
