RWE npower publishes Corporate Responsibility Report 2009

UK energy company RWE npower has released its seventh full corporate responsibility report, available online at www.rwenpowercr.com

The report describes how the company is responding to the challenge of delivering affordable and reliable energy to its customers with the least impact on the environment. It also describes its achievements in 2009, and the targets it has set for 2010 and beyond.

Key facts from the report include:

As older power stations close, RWE npower plans to invest around £10 billion over the next ten years in cleaner generation and upgrading of existing power stations
Last year RWE npower reduced carbon dioxide emissions from its power generation activities by 32 per cent
In 2009 the company spent more than £18 million on its work to assist vulnerable members of society through its Spreading Warmth and Health Through Warmth programmes
For the third year running RWE npower maintained its ranking as a Times Top 50 Company ‘Where Women Want to Work’
RWE npower was reaccredited with the BitC CommunityMark recognising the company’s ongoing commitment to delivery of sustainable, long-term community programmes
