Pharmaceuticals giant AstraZeneca has announced a donation of $4m-worth (€3m, £2.5m) of prescription medicines for poor and uninsured patients in the US. One of the largest donations ever made to AmeriCares, the health and disaster relief organisation, the products will reach the chronically ill relying on free clinics for their medical care in 28 states. The latest pledge takes the firm’s giving to AmeriCares to $63m.
