Shell has amended the plans for its Corrib gas pipeline in the Irish Republic after more than a decade of conflict over the project with local communities. The company has tabled its third proposal for the route, following opposition to the earlier plans, which resulted in the imprisonment of five locals from Rossport, one of the areas affected. The new route is three times further from the nearest house, and most of it will be dug underwater in the Sruwaddacon estuary.
