WWF has signed a three-year deal with the UK’s largest commercial insurer, the global company RSA, to advise it on becoming a more sustainable business.
The non-governmental organization will help RSA set new carbon dioxide emissions targets, research its supply chain impacts, develop new green products and investigate how its investment strategies can be more sustainable.
RSA, a FTSE 100 company that has more than 20 million customers worldwide and manages £14.7billion ($23.8bn, €16.9bn) worth of investments, hopes the partnership will enable it to introduce new WWF-backed products during 2011 providing incentives to customers for reducing their environmental footprint – for example, by making their homes and business premises more energy- and water-efficient.
WWF will help RSA to tackle social and environmental matters, will conduct research into the risks the company faces in the environmental sphere, and will advise it on supporting large conservation projects around the world.
