More than 50 companies have now been accredited to use an independent UK-based ethical shopping logo on their products and services.

In total 57 businesses have now been licensed to carry logos awarded by the Ethical Company Organization, which launched the scheme in 2004. The accredited companies, listed in the latest edition of The Good Shopping Guide, are mainly small ‘alternative’ firms, but include more well-known names such as the bottled water business Highland Spring, high street retailer New Look and Chelsea Building Society.

The logo – a shopping basket with a tick emblazoned across it – is available for use only by those firms deemed to be among the highest ethically ranked 30 per cent of any particular product sector.
