The Dow Chemical Company and Fuji Xerox are the latest organizations to join the Eco-Patents Commons, a scheme allowing enterprises to donate environmentally beneficial patents.

Dow has pledged efficiency technology to the scheme, which will help with the production of olefins, the building blocks in many packaging and electronic goods.

Fuji Xerox, a joint venture between paper manufacturer Xerox and Fujifilm, will donate a wastewater treatment method.

Since the Eco-Patent Commons was established in January 2008, eleven companies from various industries have made their innovations public and freely available through the scheme.
