Waitrose acts over Obama slurs

The UK supermarket chain Waitrose has withdrawn its advertising from the Fox News television channel after remarks made about Barack Obama by Fox presenter Glenn Beck. Waitrose pulled its advertisements from the channel, which is aired by Sky in the UK, after complaints were made to Waitrose by customers about Beck, who has accused the US president of being ‘a racist’ with ‘a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture’. Waitrose has taken the action ‘with immediate effect and for all future TV advertising campaigns’, saying: ‘We take the views of our customers seriously.’
