A pilot project to improve safety among chemical companies in China has been launched by the Chinese government, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and Dow Chemicals. Dow’s Zhangjiagang facility has been selected as the primary demonstration site for the pilot, which aims to reduce the number of  accidents, employee injuries and environmental emergencies. The pilot is part of a two-year programme agreed between the three parties to encourage the development of safety management systems across China’s chemical industry.
