Businesses are better than governments at pushing the sustainability agenda forward, according to a poll of experts in the field. The inaugural Sustainability Survey, which polled 1600 experts around the world, showed the business world is credited with doing slightly more to encourage sustainability than governments. However, its work was viewed as being far behind that of NGOs and social entrepreneurs. The survey, conducted by the consultancies GlobeScan and SustainAbility, questioned experts drawn from corporate, government, NGO, academic, research, and service organizations in more than 90 countries.
