Two of the world’s largest responsible investment research companies, Sustainalytics and Jantzi Research, have merged.
The new entity, which will operate as Sustainalytics globally and as Jantzi-Sustainalytics in North America, will combine services previously offered separately in Europe and North America, including SRI indices and a Global Compact compliance service.
The merger continues the rapid pace of consolidation among SRI research consultancies. Ten months ago Sustainalytics itself was created through the merger of Dutch Sustainability Research, German company Scoris and Analistas Internacionales en Sostenibilidad in Spain.
Before the merger, Sustainalytics, which had offices in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany and Spain, had sourced company research within the Americas from Toronto-based Jantzi.
Michael Jantzi, the new entity’s chief executive, said the merger was ‘the logical progression of our past partnership’. The company’s main offices will be in Amsterdam and Toronto.
