British Airways has pledged to halve its net carbon dioxide emissions by 2050. The target, which BA claims is the most ambitious set by an airline, is to be achieved through various measures, including investing in less polluting aircraft, using alternative fuels, devising ‘more efficient’ flight routes, and practicing emissions trading. BA is currently working with Rolls-Royce on developing lower-carbon aviation fuels.
