The Argentine and Dutch governments have agreed to investigate jointly an allegation that the oil group Shell has failed to observe
the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. The National Contact Points for the guidelines in both countries will examine the complaint, which has been filed by Friends of the Earth Argentina and Inpade, an Argentine environmental group. The complaint, which Shell is contesting, alleges ‘violations of social and environmental norms’ at the company’s refineries in Buenos Aires.
