Cotton Traders is to stop sourcing clothes from Burma after the Burma Campaign UK organized a public boycott of the company’s goods.

Paul Hawkins, product director of the UK apparel company, said: ‘No new styles will be placed in Burma and as such Cotton Traders has ceased to source product from Burma.’

Johnny Chatterton, campaigns officer at the Burma Campaign UK, responded: ‘Cotton Traders have made the right decision and pulled out of Burma.

However, they should never have been in the country at all. By sourcing clothes from more than 140 high street clothing retailers, including Asda, BHS, Debenhams, H&M, Harrods, House of Fraser, M&S and Next, have already decided not to do business with Burma.
