Six Asian entrants were chosen for the short lists in this year’s FT Sustainable Banking Awards, given by the Financial Times and the International Finance Corporation, the World Bank’s funding arm.
The Bottom of the Pyramid short list included ASA (Bangladesh) and ICICI Group (India); the Aavishkaar India Micro Venture Capital Fund made it to the short list in the Sustainable Investor of the Year category; and the regional short list for the Sustainable Emerging Markets Bank of the Year was reached by ABN Amro India, Industrial Bank (China) and YES Bank (India).
The awards, now in their third year, recognize banks and other financial institutions that have shown leadership and innovation in building social, environmental and corporate governance into their operations.
This year the nominees were selected from a record 182 entries from 129 institutions in 54 countries.
