Too many sustainability reporters take the easy option of talking in general terms about human rights policy or actions rather than reporting on their actual performance, the Global Reporting Initiative has complained. A GRI study of 100 randomly-selected reporting companies found that performance figures on human rights were provided in only nine possible cases. Many also failed to report on core indicators recommended by the GRI, with 55 not even discussing human rights training, 61 making no mention of security practices, and 69 failing to detail whether human rights clauses feature in any investment agreements.
