GlaxoSmithKline and the non-profit group Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV) are to collaborate on the production of new malaria drugs.

Under the deal MMV will provide funding for GSK’s research. In addition, GSK has renewed a joint programme with the Global Alliance for TB Drug Development to produce new tuberculosis treatments. The agreement, which funds 15 to 25 scientists at a research centre in Spain, was signed in 2004 and has been extended for three years.
