Swiss pharmaceuticals group Roche has entered into new technology transfer agreements with firms in Africa and Asia to spread the use of the antiviral HIV medication Invirase. Roche will provide local companies in Bangladesh, Tanzania and Zimbabwe with free technical assistance to enable them to make a low-cost generic version of the drug. It is considering similar requests from 35 manufacturers in a further 15 eligible countries.
