One of Britain’s oldest corporate responsibility consultancies has been acquired by a global public relations group.
The Corporate Citizenship Company (TCCC), founded in 1997, has been bought for an undisclosed sum by UK-based Chime Communications, which said that the acquisition was aimed at strengthening its presence in the market for corporate responsibility advice.
Chime already owns The Smart Company consultancy, which it intends to merge with TCCC ‘to create the leading global corporate responsibility consultancy’. The combined business is expected to be formed in early 2008.
TCCC has a team of 25 in London and New York and numbers Cadbury Schweppes, Diageo, HSBC, Lafarge, Unilever and Vodafone among its clients.
It specializes in reporting and assurance, strategy and community relations, and manages the London Benchmarking Group, which helps companies measure their community contributions.
The Smart Company, based in London and founded in 2000 by Amanda Jordan, has a ten-strong team whose specialities include strategy, policy and research, stakeholder engagement and assurance.
Chime owns a number of public relations consultancies, including Bell Pottinger and Opinion Leader.
