A search engine company that gives half its gross revenue to charity
has begun a campaign to persuade large businesses to switch to its
service as part of their CSR programmes.
everyclick.com has already reached agreements with Cadbury Schweppes, Axa Life, and the London Stock Exchange, which have recommended that their employees use the free search engine as a way of generating funds for their chosen charities. Now it will be targeting other big businesses in the UK.
On average, each search on everyclick generates around one pence (two US cents) for the user’s designated charity, which can be any one of the 170,000 registered in Britain. Payments are distributed monthly to each charity through the Charities Aid Foundation.
Everyclick, which was founded by two businesswomen in 2005 and has so far raised £200,000 for charity, claims use of its search engine is an easy way for companies to involve employees in fundraising for chosen charities ‘without leaving their desks’.
The company recently raised equity investment of £1.5m from Lochside International as part of its expansion plans. However, it does have rivals – the Magic Taxi search engine in the UK and Good Search in the US offer similar services.
