Investors now have a list of all Asia’s socially responsible investment
funds to guide them in their choice. The Association of Sustainable and
Responsible Investment in Asia (ASrIA) has published the ASrIA SRI fund
portal on its website showing a total of 264 products.
The portal includes SRI-related private equity funds, hedge funds and shariah funds, which observe Islamic religious law.
The list shows that there are 186 SRI funds in the region if faith-based funds are excluded. The faith-based funds, which are mostly on shariah principles, bring the figure up to 264.
The funds are listed by country. Australia, with 122 funds, has the largest number of products, managing a total of about A$12billion ($10bn, £5bn), of which wholesale portfolios represent about A$8bn.
Malaysia, with 68 funds, has the second largest number, and Japan, with 35, comes third.
