Deloitte and the German government have jointly set down what they
consider to be the principal non-financial key performance indicators
(KPIs) for ten industry sectors.
The global consultancy has combined with the federal environment ministry to produce the KPIs after consulting German investors and analysts and reviewing what non-financial information the country’s 30 largest companies at present make public.
The most important KPIs listed include fleet consumption and greenhouse gas intensity for automobile manufacturers, reduction of hazardous substances in the chemicals industry, strategies for access to medicines for the poor among pharmaceuticals companies, and labour conditions in the industrial goods sector.
Deloitte and the German government claim that their joint action ‘could mark the beginning of an international standardization process for KPIs on sustainable development in multinational corporations’.
