The alcoholic drinks industry
has been advised to establish a ‘repository of best practice’ on
responsible marketing of its products. The recommendation is made in
the final report of an expert committee on responsible drinks marketing
formed last year by the US-based International Center for Alcohol
Policies (ICAP), a policy think-tank. The report says some companies
are making good progress, but there is ‘no mechanism in place by which
industry members can share their experiences’. It recommends the ICAP
be invited to undertake the role.
