Malaysia’s first CSR index has been set up by OWW Consulting, a
specialist research company based in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
OWW’s offering is an index series covering initially Malaysia and Singapore and publishing CSR assessments of a range of companies for the first time. The reports detail companies’ CSR performance based on rigorous international criteria adapted for the Malaysian market.
Arshad Adam, OWW’s co-founder and finance director, said: ‘Malaysia and Singapore offer exceptional investment opportunities. Currently both markets are in a confirmed “early bull” trend. Experienced analysts are predicting upside potential of above 30 per cent in the coming two years in both markets. This will bring historical highs in each market in line with recent performance in Europe and the US. Already the social stocks in our index give 16 per cent year-to-date returns at lower risk than the market.’
Arshad is a former assistant professor of accounting and deputy director of the MA and MSc programmes at Nottingham University Business School’s Malaysia campus.
OWW has more index series in the pipeline for investors.
