Microsoft and the United Nations have teamed up to provide the
technology to promote tourism in the emerging countries of Asia and
Africa.
The agreement, between the software corporation and the UN World Tourism Organization, will supply information communications technology systems and tools to improve export competitiveness, product quality and support skills.
Bill Gates, the Microsoft chairman, told the Global Leaders’ forum for Africa: ‘Microsoft wants to play a hands-on role to help countries and entire regions to develop their knowledge-based economy, create jobs, spur growth and enable innovation. We can do this by providing easy and affordable access to technology and helping our partners to build robust local software economies.’
