German companies should take more account of the guidelines of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development on multinational corporations’ responsibilities, the government has said. A study of CSR in Germany by the federal environment ministry says the guidelines are often ‘neglected’ by businesses, to the detriment of their overall corporate responsibility programmes. ‘All companies are recommended to pay more attention to the guidelines, which provide a reliable and valuable framework for thorough CSR management,’ it says.
