Almost two thirds of the general public in China think the country
should have some kind of compulsory CSR standard, according to a new
survey.
The internet poll by Sohu Finance, the Beijing Digital 100 Research Company and Quanghua Media found that 60 per cent of those surveyed backed the idea of a government standard on CSR that would help regulate corporate behaviour.
They thought such a measure, which is being considered by the Chinese government, was particularly important to control the behaviour of companies in the food and pharmaceutical sectors.
However, a quarter of respondents warned that China must not just copy CSR ideas from foreign countries.
