Marks & Spencer has extended its commitment to ethical sourcing by switching to Fairtrade products for its 38 lines of coffee and tea. The retailer estimates this will increase the value of all Fairtrade instant and ground coffee sold in UK supermarkets by 18 per cent. Last month Marks and Spencer began selling Fairtrade-certified cotton in 36 stores (EP7, issue 10, p8). Sainsbury’s has announced that it will follow suit, although with a limited range of clothes.
