Bank Negara Indonesia, which was restructured in 2004 in an effort to
reclaim its position as the country's first bank, has joined the United
Nations Environment Programme's Finance Initiative (Unepfi).
The bank, a commercial institution with public company status employing more than 18,500 staff, says it enables its people 'to carry out their tasks and responsibilities in a professional manner'.
Unepfi members work together to try to improve their performance on social and environmental issues, especially lending and socially responsible investment.
