Tyre multinational Bridgestone is embroiled in a lawsuit over alleged complicity in the use of child labour in Africa. The case, filed in a district court in California by the International Labour Rights Fund, relates to the Firestone rubber plantation in Liberia. Bridgestone says the allegations are ‘outrageous’ and that it has ‘strict policies against child labour and prohibits the practice of parents having their children work with them’.
