The European Commission has invited applications for a new round of funding for projects that promote CSR.

Cash is available for various purposes, including the training of auditors, running events, disseminating CSR information, researching best practice and monitoring and verifying CSR activity.

Money for the programmes, which must have an international dimension to qualify, will come from this year’s €12.7million ($15.3m, £8.7m) budget allotted by the Commission’s employment, social affairs and equal opportunities directorate for social dialogue, industrial relations and CSR projects. At least half the cash has been earmarked for social dialogue projects.

There are two deadlines for applications – 1 March and 1 September. The EC has provided the funding partly in response to the findings of its multi-stakeholder forum, which said that the commission should play a bigger role in promoting CSR.
