Nine of the world's largest hotel chains agreed last month to adopt a set of principles on sustainable design and development. The principles, outlined in a new document called Sustainable hotel siting, design and construction, have been produced by Conservation International and the International Business Leaders Forum. The participating companies - Accor, Carlson, Four Seasons, Hilton, InterContinental, Marriott, Rezidor SAS, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide and TAJ Hotels, Resorts and Palaces - will now consider how best to implement the principles in new developments.
