John Elkington, the CSR consultant and author, is the new chairman of the UK’s Export Guarantees Advisory Council, a statutory body advising the government’s Export Credits Guarantee Department on the underwriting of investments in large overseas projects by British companies. Social and environmental considerations have become increasingly important in decisions on whether to approve export credits. Elkington, who will serve for two years, is co-founder and chairman of the SustainAbility consultancy.
