Scottish Life has launched its first ethical pension fund.

The Edinburgh-based company will use positive and negative screening provided by the Ethical Investment Research Service (EIRIS ) for its UK Ethical Fund, but it will fine tune its investment policy through a specially created committee of reference that has the power to override EIRIS judgements.

The eight-person committee features four Scottish Life investment experts, two academics from Edinburgh University and the owner of an organic food company.
