A one-year CSR research programme is to be carried out by the China Pudong Cadre College in Shanghai and the UK foreign ministry at a cost of £100,000 ($185,000).

The research is expected to produce a CSR guide drawing from the experience of developed countries and incorporating Chinese characteristics. The aim is to improve the CSR understanding and decision-making of business trainees and to highlight the Chinese government’s role in advancing corporate responsibility.

The college is one of three opened by the government in March to improve the governance skills of senior officials and corporate executives.
