Gavin Bailey has been appointed executive director of the Ethical Tea Partnership, a venture run by 17 tea retailing companies to monitor the conditions in which tea is produced. Bailey, who has held senior posts at Safeway and J. Sainsbury, has helped establish and run several international monitoring and assurance schemes on good agricultural practice, including the UK’s Assured Produce Scheme for fruit, vegetables and salads. Bailey replaces Chris Pinfold, who becomes a consultant.
