The 13 best employers in Asia in the Hewitt Associates 2005 study were found to outperform other companies.
Research by Hewitt, the international human resources consultancy, showed they delivered 60 per cent higher revenue growth, and on average 30 per cent higher growth per employee, all at half the recruiting cost.
The best employers' common characteristics were that they inspired superior performance from their staff, made special efforts to make them feel valued, and managed their business in ways that build long-term success and sustainability. The employees were 'more engaged and dedicated', said Mike Bennett, head of Hewitt's Asia Pacific operations.
The organizations judged as Outstanding Best Employers were: Four Seasons Hotel Singapore, Singapore; Johnson & Johnson Medical (China); Procter & Gamble Asia, Singapore; Spansion (Thailand); The Portman Ritz-Carlton, Shanghai; The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong; The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur; Yum Restaurants International (Thailand).
The Highly Commended Best Employers were: Guangdong Nanfang Lee Kum Kee Health Products, China; Hi-Way, Thailand; Philips Semiconductors (Thailand); Raffles International, Singapore; Urban Group, Hong Kong.
A total of 244 organizations and nearly 70,000 employees participated in the regional study, the third by Hewitt.
