Three ‘task groups’ have been set up by the International Organization for Standardization to help develop an ISO standard on corporate social responsibility. Each will look at a different area: basic principles, management processes and stakeholder engagement. The groups were set up as a result of the first meeting in Brazil last month of the ISO working group on social responsibility, which is overseeing the work. The final standard, expected in early 2008, will offer guidance on management systems but will not impose obligations on firms.
