Academy courts outside interest

The UK’s CSR Academy has begun a search for international and development organizations interested in buying a licence to use the training materials it has developed for managers and other staff with CSR responsibilities.

Two international training companies – as yet unnamed – have already told the academy they would like to acquire the rights to its competency framework, which outlines the skills needed by those with CSR responsibilities (EP6, issue 10, p2). Now the academy, which is housed within the Department of Trade and Industry, has issued an ‘expression of interest’ document to further widen the net.

It wants to hear from international organizations interested in exclusive rights to the framework and associated materials used in its training sessions.

The academy hopes to sell licences for three regions – the Americas, Europe/Middle East/Africa, and Asia. Licensees will be able to modify the framework for their own use.

Academy project director Andrew Dunnett said: ‘We are keen to explore this with both companies and any others with a strategic interest in this area.’
