Senior executives are more likely to believe their company’s CSR policies are effective than the managers responsible for implementing them, a poll of delegates at two conferences in Europe and the US has found. The findings ‘raise questions about the nature and clarity of internal communication’ between executives and managers working in this area, according to Business for Social Responsibility, which sought the views of more than 2000 delegates at BSR’s annual conference in New York and the European Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility in Maastricht organized by the Dutch ministry of economic affairs. Both events took place last November. One in ten of nearly 400 who replied believed that CSR had been successfully integrated into their companies’ daily operations. No substantial difference in thinking was found between North American and European respondents.
