US clothing company Gap is to order supplies from an El Salvador garment factory set up by workers who lost their jobs in a bitter labour rights battle two years ago. The Just Garments factory is employing workers made redundant during the dispute in 2002, when employers closed their workplace in response to industrial action aimed at getting union recognition. Gap, which has just published its first CSR report, had taken orders from the old factory and formed a partnership with North American trade union Unite to get the new venture off the ground.
