Barclays Bank is to help provide local sports facilities as part of its UK community investment programme. The £10million-a-year ($17m) Spaces for Sports scheme will build sports arenas on neglected land and provide finance to run them. Charities will be involved as partners. Spaces for Sports will replace the bank’s seven-year-old SiteSavers programme, which has improved derelict land in partnership with Groundwork, the urban regeneration charity. Groundwork will work with Barclays on the new scheme.
