Procter & Gamble is to introduce fair trade coffee into its US product range through its coffee division Millstone.

US shareholder activists have filed a number of resolutions on the issue at annual meetings, and the company has been talking about it with a number of SRI organizations, led by Domini Social Investments.

Adam Kanzer, director of shareholder advocacy at Domini, said the move showed P&G, the largest seller of coffee in the US, ‘is willing to address complex inequities in the market with forward-thinking action.’
