Nestle has produced its first stand-alone review of how it treats its 230,000 employees. The People development review shows, among other things, that in one South African factory it has decreased the illiteracy rate among workers by 15 per cent since 1999 by spending the equivalent of six per cent of the factory’s total payroll on literacy training.
