Cement firms consider CSR

Proposals on how the cement industry can improve its social and environmental performance are to be published next month.

The plans are the result of a two-year project, largely funded by 11 cement companies, including Lafarge (France), Heidelberger (Germany), Holcim (Switzerland) and RMC (UK).

After the report of the project is released next month, the companies will produce an ‘industry response’ by March 2002 that will suggest a timetable for the work.
