Shuman joins Council Fire

Michael H. Shuman has joined Council Fire’s team of sustainability consultants.

Shuman is an economist, attorney, author, and entrepreneur and one of the world’s leading experts on community economics. He has authored, coauthored, or edited eight books and helped co-found Business Alliance for Local Living Economies, which represents 30,000 local businesses in North America in 80 communities.

His book, The Small Mart Revolution: How Local Businesses Are Beating the Global Competition, was a best business book bronze prize recipient from the Independent Publishers Association.

He regularly helps communities analyze economic “leakages” and job-creation opportunities from expanded locally-owned, import-substituting businesses.
