UK-based food and drug retailer The Boots group has developed a community investment intranet site to encourage staff members to get involved in the company’s community programmes.
Boots spokesman Iain Fletcher said that the site would be used ‘to tell employees about the positive contribution we make to local communities, to encourage them to get involved in our community efforts and to show how that involvement will benefit their own personal and career development.’
It will be supported by a web site that will provide information about its community initiatives.
‘We see the sites as additional communication channels to tell people about our community investment team and our strategy in this area,’ said Fletcher.
In the last year Boots contributed £4.2million (€7m) through charitable and educational donations and gifts in kind. Fletcher claimed the group had a ‘positive reputation’ for social responsibility and wanted to build on this.
The social responsibilities area of the company’s web site is also to be relaunched.
