Severn Trent has finalised a code of business conduct that will help guide its ethical policies over the next few years.
The UK-based water company’s board recently approved the code subject to some minor amendments, and a series of awareness-raising meetings and ‘discussion groups’ are to be arranged to help staff understand its underlying principles.
The code is unlikely to be made public until this process, which could take several months, has been completed.
Group services manager Jim Oatridge said the document had been developed in-house using an Institute of Business Ethics outline code as its base.
‘It’s a full business code of conduct and ethics that broadly reflects the company’s vision and values,’ he said.
Oatridge added that the code would be subject to regular review and could be updated ‘after a couple of years’.
Severn Trent recently published its second Stewardship Report , which covers sustainability issues.
