R&D in agriculture proves hot potato

The UK government has launched a £7m initiative in fruit and vegetable research. The new Horticulture & Potato Initiative, to be undertaken by the state-funded Biotechnology & Biological Sciences Council, will collaborate with the agricultural industry to focus on yield gains which limit water use and emissions.
